You might find that this is a contradiction in itself ... perceptions of eye and
ear seem to be incompatible. And in a way they are ... but then again, do both
expressions merely describe perceptions?
Is it really just eye and ear that realise views or sounds ? Does it not require more
than that - does it not require mind as a third component? I think it does. And this
is where photography comes in. It is the very aim of photography to visualise the invisible.
So do my photographs: what I am trying to express is the mood that I find in abandoned or
empty places. It is a mood of lonelyness, somtimes stark, sometimes even romantic. It is
an impression of finiteness that makes me stop and reflect about the scenes I see.
